Fact 2. Did you know that Independent Express is the founder of The Pallet Network Ireland – the only freight network in Ireland where all the members are ISO accredited?

The Pallet Network means quality - and that’s official: all 23 TPN member companies have been awarded ISO:9001 certification by the National Standards Authority of Ireland – making TPN the first pallet network in Ireland or the UK to achieve ISO accreditation for every participant.

Each of the 23 members began working towards ISO:9001 in summer 2006, supported by TPN management, although a number of the members were already accredited.

“The concept of the express pallet network will revolutionise the way transport companies operate in Ireland,” said Owen Cooke, Chairman of TPN. The network currently handles 1,500 pallets every night, with a capacity to handle 3,500 pallets. “Gaining ISO9001:2000 recognises the professional, quality service members can offer their customers.”

Since TPN is made up of smaller, localised companies, its members can retain a personal, quality-based approach while offering a national and international service.

In addition, because members cover shorter distances within a familiar territory, they can offer fast, flexible service, while at the same time reducing costs and ensuring drivers’ hours remain within the parameters of the Working Time Directive.
